THE PREPOSITION

Introduction:-The words which is generally used before a noun or a pronoun to show in what relation the person or thing denoted by it stands in regard to something else is called the preposition. 

       Literally the word "Preposition" means "that which is placed before"

Eg:-I have a book in my hand

He is fond of me.

She got off train.

KINDS OF PREPOSITION

1. The prepositions made of one word are called single-word preposition.

After	Before	Beside	During	Into
Of	Outside	Plus	Through	Towards
Up	Behind	Off	Upon	Below
On	Via	Down	To	Within
About	Against	Among	Beside	Over
Without	Between	Past	Across	In
With	By	Round	Above	Despite
Since	At	Opposite	Amid	For
Under	Along	From	Till	Beneath
Per	Inside	Throughout	Around	Minus
Until	Beyond	Than

2. The below words look like verbs or adjectives but they are used as preposition.

Except	Considering	Pending	Excepting	Like
Unlike	Barring	Including	Worth	Near
Concerning	Following	Despite

3. Some prepositions made of two or more words they are called complex prepositions.

Up to	Out of	Owing to	Due to	Because of
As for	As to	Along with	Apart from	Away from
Such of	In view of	Together with	In spite of	By means of
On account of	Instead of	On to	In comparison with	In accordance with
